Tips & Other Information

Disneyland Dining Tips

Inside Disneyland Park
There are so many options inside the park.  It may not be cheap but it is definitely the most convenient.  Here is a list of some of mine and some of my client’s favorite things to eat inside the parks.  (Please email me your favorites to add to my list!)

Main Street
  • Carnation Café is one of my favorite restaurants inside the park because you have so much to choose from.  The food is always good and everyone can find something they like.  My favorite thing is the Loaded Baked Potato Soup.  It is SO YUMMY and the perfect thing on a cold day. A client also told me their favorite was the Turkey Sandwich on Pretzel Bread with Mustard-Seed Mayo.  Sounds delicious!
  • Blue Ribbon Bakery has Giant Cinnamon Roll which is good for breakfast with a large warm coffee.  Also, their Giant Chocolate Muffin is another good choice. I’ve never tried this but I was told it was delicious!
  • Coca-Cola Refreshment Center has the BEST Tomato Soup with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich!  We had that last time we were there and it hit the spot for lunch.  I would definitely buy this again!

New Orleans Square:
  • Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl is filling, hot, and tasty.  Get a bowl at the Royal Street Veranda before you watch Fantasmic. They also have them at the Pacific Wharf Cafe at Disney California Adventure.
  • The Famous Monte Cristo Sandwich at the Blue Bayou or Cafe Orleans.  It's the kind of thing you should eat without asking "what's in it?" because truthfully it sounds awful: a turkey, ham, and cheese sandwich battered, deep-fried, dusted with powdered sugar and dipped in raspberry jam. Somehow, these ingredients are very tasty when combined.  This is only available at lunch time at the Blue Bayou.
  • Gumbo at Blue Bayou. I'm told that it takes 9 hours and 12 people to make! Tip: If you want a cheaper, quicker bowl of gumbo, get yours from Cafe Orleans. It's the same stuff they serve at the Blue Bayou.
  • Warm Cookie Dessert with Vanilla Ice Cream at the Blue Bayou.

Adventureland:
  • Bengal Barbeque Kabobs.  A healthier option as far as park food goes. This is a good snack or as a meal you can order 2.
  • Dole Whip – right outside the Tiki Room. You can get one of these while you wait for the Tiki Room.

Tomorrowland:
  • Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port near the entrance to Space Mountain.  I’ve heard the pasta is the best and the portions are big.  Two kids could share one pasta dish.  And if you have a large group, order a large pizza and split it. It's cheaper than buying individual pieces. They also serve salads.
  • Tomorrowland Terrace had some good options for kids meals that we all ate (even the adults!) to fill our stomach enough to get to dinner later in the evening. They were priced decent too.

My three favorite snacks that you can find at various stands inside the parks are:
  • The Large Pickles
  • The Pineapple Slices
  • Churros (of course!)

Did you know you can get FREE coffee inside Disneyland Park?  The Market House on Main Street has been giving free coffee refills since 1955.  Purchase a cup of coffee (regular, decaf, vanilla or hazelnut) for $2.59 and save your receipt.  There’s no need to keep the cup.  Just bring back the receipt and enjoy free refills all day.

Inside California Adventure Park
I have to admit that I have less tips for California Adventure Park, even though there are several choices!  And now with Buena Vista Street and Cars Land open, there are even more choices for everyone's taste.  Here are a few things I have tried and liked very much!  I think my next trip needs to focus on this park!

Taste Pilot's Grill at Condor Flats (next to Soarin Over California) has really good Chicken Sandwiches!  Someone sitting next to us said their ribs were delicious and they even went back for another order of them because their kids had eaten all of theirs.

Cozy Cone Motel has a Chili Cone Queso that looks absolutely to die for!  This is going to be something I try when I'm there next.  If anyone has tried it please let me know!!

Wine Country Trattoria at the Golden Vine Winery has Italian favorites.  I was impressed.  I loved that we could sit outside and relax in the shade while we ate.  And for wine lovers, you have several choices to pair with your meal.

Corn Dog Castle. If you like corn dogs, then you need to get one here!

COFFEE - For you coffee lovers, there is now a Starbucks inside the Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe on Buena Vista Street.   There is also a wonderful coffee stand that is located on the left hand side just before you get to the World of Color show. The line takes a bit long, especially right before World of Color show, but the coffee is so yummy! (Do I say yummy a lot?)

To save money you can leave the park and not have to go very far.  There are several restaurants and fast food places within walking distance of the park.  If you exit the parks and head towards the shuttle drop offs and cross the street (Harbor Blvd) you can see in either direction, several fast food and sit down restaurants within walking distance.  And there are even more options up and down Harbor Blvd if you have a car.
