Tips & Other Information

Packing Tips
Packing properly can save you money.  When you’re on vacation, little things cost a lot.  So here are some packing tips I’ve found to be helpful.

Items to remember to pack:
  • Backpack
  • Sunscreen!!  AND aloe and/or moisturizing lotion for after a long day in the park in the sun.
  • Lip balm (one with sunscreen)
  • Camera
  • Cell phone
  • Chargers for cell phones, cameras, video cameras, laptops, etc.
  • Sunglasses
  • Hats that you can easily stash in backpacks on fast or wet rides
  • Prescription medications
  • Baggies for wet bathing suits or keeping your camera/cell phones dry on wet rides
  • Bottled water to bring into the park in your backpack
  • Earplugs if your child is sensitive to noise
  • First aid kit including aspirin (child & adult), Bandaids, Neosporin. Both parks have First Aid stations too!  Look for them on the map and look for signs when you enter the parks.
  • Gum. Disneyland does not sell gum
  • Reading material for downtime
  • Snacks for your Backpack like chewy granola bars and trail mix.
  • Snacks for your Hotel like boxes of cereal, fruit
  • Swim goggles to protect your kids' eyes from the high chlorine levels in the hotel pools.
  • Trash Bags for dirty laundry
  • Wet Wipes.  Get the antibacterial ones for your hands. The park is germy and your hands get dirty.

CLOTHES:
I would check the weather before your trip. No matter what the forecast is though, I would always bring the following items of clothing in addition to whatever else you're packing:
  • Bathing suits in case your hotel has a pool/hot tub
  • Jeans or sweatpants
  • Shorts (if you’re going during warm months or colder months, I would bring a pair of shorts. It can get warm when you least expect it in Southern California)
  • Socks!   Bring extra pairs in case they get wet. We had to double up socks one year when LA hit record cold temperatures and we weren’t prepared with the right clothes.  We also like to bring an extra pair of socks and keep them in our backback or purse in case they get too wet on a ride at night.
  • Comfortable shoes for walking. Avoid flip flops because they can fly off on rides and can cause your feet to hurt after a long day of walking.
  • Sweatshirt because it gets chilly at night, even on hot days.

Other Helpful Packing Tips:

  • Store important numbers in your cell phone such as hotel, nearby restaurants, lost & found, etc.
  • Skip packing hairdryers and irons. All the local hotel/motels have them.
